BOSTON, July 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Colombia's 4G auction took place in June 2013 and is expected to increase competition while repositioning smaller players, according to a new report from Pyramid Research (www.pyr.com).
Colombia: 4G Auction to Boost Competition, Mobile Data Growth and Network Capacity offers a precise profile of the country's telecommunications, media and technology sectors based on proprietary data from Pyramid's research in the market. "Pyramid Research expects a decreasing trend in Claro's stake thanks to more efficient and asymmetric regulation as well as the entry of new competitors with LTE deployments, such as DirecTV, ETB+Tigo, UNE and niche player Avantel," says Jose Manuel Mercado, Senior Analyst at Pyramid Research. MVNOs such as Uff, ETB and Virgin Mobile provide mobile services to specific regions or economic groups ignored by the big players and will lessen, although to a small extent, the current market concentration. "Avantel with 4G spectrum is better positioned to compete in the business segment where convergent solutions are indispensable and where PTT services are no longer a clear competitive advantage," he adds.
Colombia: 4G Auction to Boost Competition, Mobile Data Growth and Network Capacity is part of Pyramid Research's Latin America Intelligence Report Series and is priced at $990.
