CMP Technology announced today the appointment of electronics industry veteran Ross Ayotte to publisher and managing director of the EE Times ( www.eetimes.com ) franchise, effective January 3, 2007. Ayotte will be responsible for the overall strategic vision of its print and online properties in North America and Europe, and will work closely with EE Times' media partners in Asia and Japan, building its global reach, increasing sales revenue, and overall brand development. He will report to Mike Azzara, senior vice president, business strategy, CMP Technology Electronics & Software Groups.
"It's no secret that the media world is in a time of mind-bending change, and our best strategy is to stay as close as possible to our readers and advertisers so that we can evolve in lockstep with their changing needs," said Azzara. "With Ross, we've hired an engineer and a marketer, and someone intimately familiar with the day-to-day marketing and communications issues this business presents. With his diverse global background on the client side at leading semiconductor companies, Ross brings an invaluable perspective on how to further strengthen the EE Times brand and build the connection between our clients and their customers."
Ayotte was most recently the director of worldwide brand management and corporate marketing at ON Semiconductor in Phoenix, Ariz., where he led the marketing communications and Web activities and was also involved in the development and articulation of the corporate business strategy and brand value proposition. Prior to ON Semiconductor he worked for Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) for 16 years beginning in 1989, where he held various product marketing and business development roles. From 1992 to 1996 he was the business development manager for the analog semiconductor business in Europe and was responsible for new product introductions to customers, new product identification, and brand development. He returned from Europe in 1996 to establish the integrated marketing communications manager role for the analog division of ADI, and spent the next seven years directing the global PR, advertising and direct marketing programs there. Before joining ADI, Ross was an officer in the United States Air Force, serving at HQ Electronic Systems Division in Bedford, Mass. He holds a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and an M.B.A. from Bentley College.
"As a long time customer -- and admirer -- of the EE Times franchise, I'm tremendously excited to be part of the evolution of this industry-leading brand and I look forward to building even more distance between EE Times and the rest of the pack," said Ayotte.
Ayotte will take the helm of EE Times at an important time as it continues to evolve to meet the changing information needs of electronics engineers and professionals. In October, as an example of the brand's continued investment in innovation, EE Times announced the unification of its highly experienced and worldwide editorial team across print and online mediums to better deliver the "heads up" information critical to the creators of technology to stay informed in an ever-changing global marketplace. In February 2007, a redesigned and better-engineered print folio will launch with a new section dedicated to business issues. EETimes.com will also be revamped later in the year to further optimize the "heads up" experience.
