Conference Program Reflects Growing Diversity of Signal Processing Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The producers of the International Conference on Signal Processing Applications and Technology (ICSPAT) today announced that the program for the 11th annual event will feature hundreds of scheduled presentations and poster sessions. This comprehensive program includes 30 different categories of applications in which signal processing plays a critical role, reflecting the broad diversity and growing importance of DSP (digital signal processing) in electronic systems.

Running this year from October 16 - 19 at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Dallas, ICSPAT is recognized as the premier international forum for engineers, designers and managers who need to keep pace with the latest research and developments in signal processing technology. The conference kicks off on Monday, October 16, with a program of all day tutorials. The following three days will feature presentations on topics ranging from voice over IP, smart antenna systems, and mobile video phones, to 3D audio post-processing and MP3 player software design, along with a variety of special guest lectures, panel discussions and hosted events.

In addition to the regular conference program, full day tutorials at ICSPAT include a class on Digital Filters, a class on Programmable DSP Architectures, and a class titled, "Multirate Digital Signal Processing for Communications, Audio, and Video Processing." Free vendor-sponsored tutorials and product-demonstration suites that will be open to attendees throughout the conference provide hands-on exposure to the latest products available for engineers working with signal processing applications today.

A variety of special events complement the technical program. Paul Marino, director of Motorola's Digital Signal Processor Core Technology Center will lecture on, "Surviving the Digital Signal Processing Technology Inflection Point," on Tuesday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. A second special guest lecture, on Thursday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m., features Vincent Poor, professor of electrical engineering at Princeton University speaking on, "The Wireless Revolution: Signal Processing as the Great Enabler."

A plenary panel discussion on architecture choices for voice-over-packet technology will be held during the day on Wednesday, October 18. That evening, an award ceremony will honor the best signal processing research at ICSPAT 2000.
