CMP Media's EE Times announced today the launch of the Video/Imaging DesignLine Web site (www.VIDesignLine.com), an online resource for engineers in the video and imaging industry consisting of contributed articles providing "how to" design solutions, news and updates on industry standards such as USB video, MPEG and MPL.
"The pace of progress in digital video and imaging is astounding, and this is only the beginning," said Cliff Roth, Video/Imaging DesignLine editor. "From codecs, to multimedia signal processors, to displays and image sensors -- everywhere you turn, there are new developments daily. Video/Imaging DesignLine will be the definitive resource for engineers working in this field, to keep abreast of news, and to solve practical engineering issues for video and imaging products currently in the works."
Video/Imaging DesignLine fills an informational void for engineers and engineering managers, providing practical, how-to design information, technical and standards-related resources, product announcements and reviews, expert advice and analysis, insights into industry trends, blogs and forums, and breaking news focused on the following key areas:
-- Image Sensors & Optics -- Video Processing -- Display Technology -- Innovative Applications -- Market Research
Also featured at Video/Imaging DesignLine is the TechLibrary section, a series of links to resources about video/imaging technology codecs and standards, including USB and MPEG specifications, reference design kits and image sensor specifications.
Cliff Roth, editor of VIDesignLine.com, has been writing about video and imaging technology for over two decades. From 2001 to 2003 Roth was Director of Interactive Television for Gist Communications, an onscreen program guide company, where he created and oversaw development of interactive TV applications for cable and satellite TV. His articles have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and numerous specialty publications. In the 1990s Roth was Technology Editor for Gist, a Senior Editor for E-town (a consumer electronics web site), and Editor-In-Chief of Smart Media Business (a monthly newsletter about interactive television). He is the author of two books -- "The Low Budget Video Bible" and "Mobile Computing for Dummies."
Video/Imaging DesignLine is CMP Media's fourth in a series of vertically micro-segmented Web sites for design engineers involved in designing electronic systems. The site complements CMP's existing suite of products focused on video/imaging techniques and technologies, including the upcoming Consumer Systems Design Seminar at the Embedded Systems Conference San Francisco, March 8-9, 2005, EEDesign.com and Electronics Supply & Manufacturing magazine.
