electronicaUSA with the Embedded Systems Conference Announces Best of Show Winners

CMP Media LLC (NASDAQ: UNEWY) and Messe Muenchen announced the Best of Show winners at electroncaUSA with the Embedded Systems Conference, North America's largest systems design event taking place this week in San Francisco. Showcasing a full-scale replica of the Mars Rover on the show floor, Wind River Systems (NASDAQ: WIND) was named the overall Best of Show winner for its device software that enables the exploration vehicles to roam Mars in search of water, soil samples and other geological materials.

"Wind River is honored to receive the Best of Show award for showcasing its device software currently running the Mars Exploration Rovers -- Spirit and Opportunity," said Jerry Fiddler, Founder and Board Member of Wind River Systems. "We have participated in this event since its inception and feel it provides the best forum to showcase technologies that will power products and devices today and tomorrow."

Six other awards were presented to companies for the best products at the event in their respective categories: Automotive/Transportation, Consumer Electronics, Industrial, Instrumentation, Military/Aerospace, and Communications.

In the Automotive/Transportation category, Texas Instruments was honored for a self-navigating vehicle assembled by the Digital Auto Drive organization that recently competed in the DARPA Challenge. The vehicle uses two of TIs DSPs enabling the vehicle to "see" and make decisions about direction and obstacle avoidance.

For the Consumer Electronics category, Toshiba won for its TX4926 64-bit microprocessor in the HomePod Wireless Digital Stereo from Macsense Connectivity Inc., which lets users send MP3 music files stored on a Macintosh, Windows or Linux computer to other playback devices anywhere within the home.

Applied Data Systems earned the top honors in the Industrial category for presenting Macrovision Corp.'s Nomad Expert Technician System, which is a wireless wearable computer currently used by automotive service technicians to superimpose text and diagrams from electronic service manuals.

In the Instrumentation category, Agilent Technologies won for its technology in the B4655A, which is the first commercially available dynamic probe application for logic analyzer-based debug of FPGAs.

In addition to gaining top honors for the Mars Rover in the Military/Aerospace category, Wind River was also honored in the Communications category for their VXWorks and communications protocols demonstrated in the Intellisar system from the Weather Channel Intellistar, which has the ability to select content based on its relevance to a particular viewing area.
