CMP Media's Electronics Group today announced the launch of EE Times Europe to provide Europe's creators of technology with unparalleled global and local electronics industry news, analysis, product and design information. The integrated media edition will consist of a pan-European Web site, to launch May 2006, covering seven regional European markets in English and local language; and an English-only print and digital edition, to launch September 2006, providing both global and local news and analysis. EE Times Europe's initial circulation of 55,000 makes it the largest electronics industry news publication in Europe.
"In addition to offering EE Times' unparalleled global electronics industry perspective, we've put together a European editorial team of seven experienced editors based in key geographic regions to provide locally-focused content in English and the local language," commented Richard Wallace, editorial director of CMP Media's Electronics Group. "With the new integrated EE Times Europe, we'll meet our European readers' and customers' changing communication needs with wide-reaching editorial coverage in the pan-European English print publication, and complement it with local-language online editions."
EE Times Europe Online will go live May 2006. The new Web site is designed to deliver both global and local information with extensive editorial additions and expanded advertising real estate. The site will feature global EE Times coverage in English, regional news and analysis in a mix of local language and English, a New Products section, and 13 new "Index" pages covering a range of important topics, such as automotive, consumer electronics and wireless. Existing, news-only local language editions covering Germany, France, the UK and Scandinavia will be consolidated into the new site, and new local language editions for Israel, Eastern Europe and Russia will be added.
The bi-monthly EE Times Europe print and digital editions will launch September 2006. Editorial content will include coverage and analysis from the US version of EE Times, locally generated European staff copy, and material translated from the China and Japan editions of EE Times. The existing Electronics Express monthly tabloid will become the product section and will be integrated online as the New Products section. Sales and editorial operations will be based in Brussels.
EE Times is the world's most widely read and respected source of news and information for the global electronics industry. Through regional editions EE Times reach now extends to over 300,000 readers in print and serves an online audience of over 1,000,000 readers worldwide across North America, Europe, China, Korea, Taiwan, Asia and Japan.
"We've received extremely positive and encouraging customer feedback about the integrated print and online media strategy for Europe. This strategy has also been confirmed through the findings of a recent CMP Media study of 4,000 engineers' media usage habits," said Paul Miller, senior vice president and group director of CMP Media's Electronics and Software Development Groups.
Led by 30-year industry veteran Richard Wallace, the EE Times Europe editorial team features seven experienced editors located in key geographical regions with technical expertise in important application areas. They include Christoph Hammerschmidt in Germany; Peter Clarke, Colin Holland and John Walko in the UK; Henri Arnold and Jean-Pierre Joosting in Belgium; and Anne- Francoise Pele in France.
