CMP Media Electronics Group today announced that its editorial director, Richard Wallace will provide keynote addresses at two upcoming events during the eighth annual Zhongguancun IT Festival, being held from September 7-12 at the Zhongguancun (ZGC) Development Zone in Beijing. As a recognized expert on global electronics technology, Mr. Wallace will address the changing landscape of emerging international high-tech centers at the 2005 China International Creative Industry Summit and the China Electronic Information Industry Park Development Forum.

On September 8, Mr. Wallace will provide a keynote address at the 2005 China International Creative Industry Summit, an event that strives to build a bridge between China's growing creative and digital content industries, like electronic gaming and animation, and the ZGC, China's most important high-tech zone. In cooperation with industry and government officials, plus investment partners, the ZGC is poised to establish a new digital content and service economy, extending China's technology development beyond its current base in the electronics and IT industries. In his speech, Mr. Wallace will review similar international efforts to make this transition and describe what has, and has not worked in other countries over the past few years. The summit is hosted by China's Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, and People's Government of Beijing.

"China is one of the world's fastest growing technology centers and the Zhongguancun district is emerging as a hub for the country's creative and digital content industries," said Wallace. "It's a privilege for me to participate in this series of events and provide my own insight, as Zhongguancun has become such a globally-recognized powerhouse in electronics and IT, home to research facilities for heavyweights like Microsoft and IBM, more than 60 universities and research clusters for the China Academy of Science, and the country's leading cultural organizations like the Beijing Film Institute and Beijing TV."

Mr. Wallace will also address the 2005 China Electronic Information Industry Park Development Forum on September 12. The event will announce an alliance of 31 Chinese electronic industry parks, like the Shanghai Zhangjiang Science Park and the Tianjin Economy Development Area, coming to the ZGC. Mr. Wallace will speak about how China and other emerging technology centers can develop their economy through attracting more direct U.S. investors in the electronic/IT industry, how the U.S. regional government can attract cross investment, and provide an overview of major global industry trends. This event is organized and presented by the Department of Planning, the Ministry of Information Industry, the Bureau of Industry Development of the Beijing Municipal Government, Haidian District, and the Zhongguancun Hi-Tech Park.
