Thousands of industry leaders and engineers will explore the latest embedded hardware and software technology products from more than 350 exhibiting companies at CMP Media's Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) to be held March 6 - 10, 2005, at the Moscone Center, in San Francisco, Calif.

The event features a robust technical program, including 132 technical classes, 16 full-day tutorials, seven Design Seminars, the Microprocessor Summit and numerous vendor workshops. The Embedded Training Program offers "how-to" classes designed to meet the needs of embedded systems developers and engineers. Topics covered include embedded software development, hardware/software integration, real-time development, programmable logic design, connectivity, and security. This year, two new components of the technical program concentrate on the current needs of those seeking solutions for systems design challenges.

Seven New Design Seminars Focus on Specialized Design Needs

Seven new design seminars will provide in-depth, future-looking, and vital design information on specific end-markets and enabling technologies in a series of one- and two-day seminars. The seminars will cover consumer, 3G cellular, wireless networking, network system, easy paths to silicon, digital signal processor and analog design topics.

New Microprocessor Summit Showcases Latest Architectures and Devices

Additionally, the new one-day Microprocessor Summit, moderated by Embedded Systems Programming's editor-in-chief Jim Turley, provides a forum for the introduction of new embedded processor, microcontroller, and digital signal processor architectures. The program includes a focus on new variants of existing architectures as well. A panel of industry experts offers evaluations of the new products, helping systems designers sort through their options in order to make better purchasing decisions.

"ESC San Francisco is the only place where you can get both an in-depth and granular look at specific technologies that your company needs, and receive a 30,000-foot perspective on market trends and technology requirements for the coming years -- with the goal of asking not just how-to but why," said CMP Media's Group Editorial Director for Embedded Systems and Conference Director Lindsey Vereen.

The event keynote address will be given by the creator of the cartoon strip Dilbert, Scott Adams. Adams' cartoon is about an engineer for an undisclosed northern California high-tech company, making him a particularly relevant and humorous speaker for this audience.

ESC San Francisco will also extend the exhibit hours until later in the evening, making it more convenient for local engineers to attend and network at the two evening receptions. An online matching system, EEQuorum, extends the networking opportunities before, during, and after the event by connecting engineers with colleagues, exhibitors and products of specific interest to them. Key exhibitors already participating include: Agilent, Analog Devices, ARM, Avnet, Freescale, Green Hills Software, Intel, Microsoft, ST Microelectronics, Texas Instruments, Xilinx, and many more.
