CMP Media LLC (NASDAQ: UNEWY) today announced projected attendance figures of approximately 11,500 engineers, developers, managers, exhibitors, speakers and media from 41 different countries at this year's Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) San Francisco (www.embedded.com/esc). In addition, Elmic Systems was named winner of the Best of Show award for its demonstration of the Vocera Communications System, a wearable clip-on wireless 802.11b device which enables instant voice-activated communication among people within a building or campus-like setting. A prestigious panel of industry editors and analysts narrowed a field of 30 submissions to 14 finalists and judged the Vocera Communications System to have the most innovative embedded technology in an end-user application.

"It's an honor to win this award at the premier event for the embedded industry. We submitted the Vocera Communications System because it utilized our cutting edge technology to enable an end-user product that truly improves quality of life," stated Kevin McGuire, president and COO for Elmic Systems. "The Embedded Systems Conference has been the stepping-stone that has allowed Elmic Systems to rise from relative obscurity to become an integral player in the market."

"The Best of Show award was just one highlight at this year's conference," stated Lindsey Vereen, conference director. "A forward-looking keynote presentation, a thought-provoking business panel, and a pragmatic, tutorial-based technical conference were also well received, and have provided attendees with insight they can apply to current design challenges and to help make successful business decisions during these demanding economic times."

Optimistic Keynote Address

Sir Robin Saxby, the executive chairman for ARM, expressed optimism for the future of embedded computing and technology in his keynote address. Focusing on biotechnology, Saxby described a multitude of biomedical devices representing growth markets for the future and stated that patience is the number one ingredient needed to make advances and develop products of the future. Many of the ESC San Francisco program presentations, including the keynote by ARM's Sir Robin Saxby, can be found at www.embedded.com/esc beginning next week.

More than 270 exhibitors participated at this year's conference. The exhibition featured more than 75 announcements and innovations from industry-leading companies, including Wind River, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, ARM, IBM, and Mentor Graphics.
