CMP Media LLC (NASDAQ: UNEWY) and Messe Muenchen today announced preliminary attendance figures of approximately 13,000 engineers, developers, managers, exhibitors, speakers and media from 45 different countries at this year's electronicaUSA with the Embedded Systems Conference. These figures represent a 30 percent increase over attendance at last year's Embedded Systems Conference. Additionally, 430 exhibitors participated, marking a 50 percent increase over last year including more than 60 semiconductor companies.
More than 1,500 business and technical executives, analysts from 40+ investment banks and venture capital firms, more than 10 electronics distributors, and 10 industry associations also showed their support for the largest networking opportunity in the electronics industry.
"The innovation, phenomenal products, convergence of technologies, and overall excitement this week was exceptional," said Paul Miller, vice president and publisher, CMP Media, Electronics Group. "This event provides a window of opportunity to see the technologies that are enabling advancements in the electronics industry and changing the future of technology."
The exhibition showcased more than 8000 products from 430 industry-leading companies including Motorola, Intel, Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, and STMicroelectronics, as well as major RTOS and EDA companies, including Wind River, LynuxWorks, Microsoft, Green Hills, Mentor Graphics, and Synopsys.
"Our participation at electronicaUSA with the Embedded Systems Conference provided us with the unique opportunity to reach key customers and keep our fingers on the pulse of the latest innovations in the market," said Joseph Rigazio, worldwide DSP marketing manager, Texas Instruments. "This is an outstanding forum for engineers and technical managers and we look forward to seeing the continued growth of this event."
This year's event featured a multi-conference educational program taught by more than 275 industry experts, which included the Embedded Systems Conference, the Communications Design Conference, the Power Electronics Conference, and the Emerging Technologies Forums. Several technologies took center stage. In the communications sector, for example, sessions on wireless LAN and ultrawideband design captured broad interest. Real-time operation and embedded Linux capabilities were hot topics for the Embedded Systems Conference.
For the first-time, event organizers deployed a business relationship optimization technology, called EEQuorum, to foster business connections. This proved to be an effective networking tool as more than 50 percent of overall attendees participated, with 90 percent of day-one attendees opting in. Additional networking and business-level sessions provided attendees with the opportunity to make effective business connections.
"The momentum created here at electronicaUSA with the Embedded Systems Conference is mirrored across CMP's print and online products, including EETimes." said Miller. "There is no doubt that our leading print and online products helped to ensure the growth of this year's event. Our integrated media strategy enables customers to engage a very influential set of designers and managers, as well as the investment and analyst communities. Next year's event will build on the well-established Embedded Systems Conference and Communications Design Conference programs and broaden the educational component of this event into other vertical areas, including power-management and passive components."
The 2005 electronicaUSA with the Embedded Systems Conference runs March 7- 10 in San Francisco, CA.
