The content of the special issue covers how the recent earthquake and tsunami have impacted Japan – its people, business and industry. It focuses on the loss of electric power and its devastating consequences. UBM Electronics brought all of its brands -- EE Times, ESD, EBN, EDN, Design News, Test & Measurement World and Embedded.com -- together to produce the special issue.
"We are very proud of our special digital issue. This was a simple idea to raise money for those affected by the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear problems in Japan and we have pulled together as an industry. Not only was it a labor of love across all of the UBM Electronics brands, but it brought together the global electronics industry. When disaster strikes, it reminds us we are never alone," said Paul Miller, CEO, UBM Electronics. "It's a gesture of help to a country that has been devastated and one that is instrumental in our industry. We are very pleased to assist the Japanese people in this time of need."
UBM Electronics would like to thank our partners for their participation and their generous contribution to Japan's relief efforts: Analog Devices, Allied Electronics, Austriamicrosystems, Arrow, Avnet, Cadence, Carr Lane, Fairchild Semiconductor, Freescale, Future Electronics, Global Foundries, GlobTek, Green Hills Software, Linear Technology, Maxim, MicroSemi, Molex, Mouser, Newark, NXP, Nxtbook, ON Semiconductor, Power Integrations, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, TTI, X-Fab and Xilinx.

"Wow. Mainline news media has been struggling to present a coherent picture of the chaos of this series of events, but this document contains an order of magnitude more information and a balance between sensitivity for the victims and matter-of-fact analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the technical and political systems involved. It gives me faith that we all will learn from this and be stronger as a result."
