COLOGNE, Germany, March 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The call for submissions to present lectures and panels sessions at the 2014 Game Developers Conference™ Europe (GDC Europe) is now open through Monday, April 21. Organized by UBM Tech Game Network, the event, now in its sixth year, will run Monday through Wednesday, August 11-13 at the Cologne Congress-Centrum Ost in Cologne, Germany.
Co-located with the European gamescom trade fair, GDC Europe 2014 will continue to provide the essential pan-European perspective of game development and highlight business trends throughout the continent.
Submissions are now being accepted for Main Conference tracks in Business, Marketing & Management, Design, Production, Programming, and Visual Arts. Organizers are seeking leading industry practitioners to propose lectures and panels with significant, applicable takeaways for today's video game community. Content submissions are also being accepted for the Independent Games Summit.
GDC Europe will continue to serve the pan-European game industry by gathering the world's leading game development professionals to discuss current trends across platforms and industry disciplines. The 2013 event, which hosted a record number of nearly 2,250 attendees, included highlights such Oculus VR co-founders Palmer Luckey and Nate Mitchell discussing a path forward for better VR games and Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 director Patrick Plourde's debut of the new JRPG title Child of Light. Industry veterans hosted panel discussions, lectures and talks including standouts like industry legend Don Daglow 's talk about next gen challenges and how to think beyond graphics and Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls developer David Cage' compelling talk on the future of cinematic games and why developers must learn from the film industry.
"The 2013 conference again surpassed expectations with another record-breaking attendance and 130 speakers and more than 75 exhibitors and sponsors," said Meggan Scavio, General Manager of all Game Developers Conference events. "Now in its sixth year at Cologne, GDC Europe 2014 is happy to continue its tradition of providing a forum for developers from all over the planet to meet and exchange the new ideas, techniques and tools that will define the future of game development."
The Call for Submissions for both the Main Conference tracks and the Independent Games Summit is now open through April 21, 2014. You can learn more about the submissions process and guidelines here: http://www.gdceurope.com/conference/c4p/.
