Every year UBM Tech conducts a comprehensive survey of embedded system designers in order to learn more about the trials, tribulations, issues, objectives, software development, OSes and other key elements of the design cycle to get the pulse of the global embedded design market. Findings include benchmarking three to five of years of change with a look toward the future in all aspects of the embedded development process: project features and capabilities, tools usage, work environment, applications, code reuse and brands and chips currently used or being considered by embedded developers. The study was conducted in conjunction with Wilson Research Group.

- Mannion and Quinnell will present the study to the EE Live! community on April 2 at 11 a.m. in the Fantastical Theatre of Engineering Innovation.
"Embedded systems are in technologies from smartphones to automobiles to medical devices – they make life easier and more enjoyable for the consumers that use them each and every day," said Mannion. "We studied the worldwide embedded systems marketplace to learn who is using embedded systems, what they are using them for and what types of embedded development is being used or considered by developers. Each year the results of this study help us as well as the global electronics industry get a more complete understanding of the marketplace. We look forward to sharing the results later this month."
