CMP Media's SD Events Group today announced that six of the industry's top Web Services and development strategists will address thousands of software development professionals at the upcoming SD Web Services World 2001 conference and exposition August 27-31 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
With Web Services emerging as one of the hottest trends in the software development industry, SD Events is bringing together some of the most influential thought leaders for its keynote presentations to inform and educate at SD Web Services World.
This year's keynote lineup includes: -- Daniel Guinan, who is currently chairing the security sub-committee of the UDDI Working Group, will discuss how Web Services are a disruptive technology that is in the midst of radically altering the way in which business gets done. Guinan is the first keynote speaker, presenting on the opening day of the event, August 27 at 12:15 p.m. -- Rene Bonvanie, the individual charged with worldwide product marketing and business development for Oracle's flagship product Oracle9i, will discuss how an effective Web services strategy can help companies grow revenues and reduce costs by making it easier to re-purpose information assets and automate business processes. Bonvanie gives the first presentation of the day on August 30 at 8:30 a.m. -- Chief Developer Evangelist and General Manager of Hewlett-Packard's Application Development Operation, Russ Daniels, will examine a number of software development platforms and discuss what they have in common, where the choices are really different and how developers can design for interoperability. Daniels speaks on August 30 at 1:00 p.m. -- Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web and director of the World Wide Web Consortium, will deliver the afternoon keynote on the development of the Semantic Web and other principles of Web Architecture on Thursday, August 30 at 2:00 p.m.
Other previously announced keynote speakers include Simon Phipps, chief technology evangelist at Sun Microsystems and Bjarne Stroustrup, the designer and original implementer of C++, both of whom delivered compelling addresses to a packed audience at SD Event's West coast show in April.
"The evolution of the software development marketplace is astounding and we are thrilled to offer SD Web Services World attendees the insights and expertise of these industry leaders," said Mike Gottlieb, SD 2001 show director. "The Boston event will prove to be one of the most comprehensive in our 14-year history and we've assembled the top experts and visionaries to address the universal topics currently facing software development teams."
In concert with these dynamic keynote addresses, SD Web Services World offers more than 130 classes and tutorials designed to educate attendees about the latest trends in programming languages, enterprise development, platform tools and Internet tools and technologies. On the exhibition floor, more than 50 leading Web services organizations, including Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Oracle, Sun Microsystems and Lingo Systems will be showcasing their latest technologies, services and products. Networking activities such as "Birds-of-a-Feather" gatherings, Power Panels, Roundtables, and customized Tech Sessions compliment the event.
