CMP Media today announced that Software Development magazine will host a web cast with Compuware Corporation. The web cast, titled "Web Application Performance: What You Don't Know Can Slow You Down," will be held Wednesday, April 21st at 11 a.m. PDT.
"This is our second partnership with Compuware in hosting a web cast. The first web cast was extremely successful with several hundred software development professionals attending the live cast. This web cast promises to be even more successful. It will help development managers and teams as they work to improve web application performance," said Stan Barnes, Associate Publisher of Software Development magazine.
Software Development magazine's Editor in Chief, Alexandra Weber-Morales, will moderate the session.
The seminar presenters --
John Robbins is the co-founder of Wintellect ( http://www.wintellect.com/ ), a training, debugging, and consulting firm that helps clients ship better code faster. He is also the author of Debugging Applications for Microsoft .NET and Windows (Microsoft Press) as well as the popular Bugslayer columnist for MSDN Magazine. As a recognized debugging expert, John "takes an evil delight in finding and fixing impossible bugs in other people's programs." He leads Wintellect's debugging and consulting services as well as develops and teaches its debugging curriculum. John has debugged and tuned a wide variety of applications for companies such as eBay, Microsoft, AutoDesk, and Jackson National Life.
Peter Varhol is a Compuware Corporation product manager for developer productivity tools focusing on accelerating the development of reliable and high-performing applications. He has graduate degrees in computer science and applied mathematics, and has written extensively on application development-related topics for industry journals.
The web cast will address why distributed web applications perform poorly -- including discussion of some highly visible failures. Attendees will come away with a solid understanding of how to diagnose these problems at the unit-testing and application-testing level and which analysis tools and techniques are essential in the process. The discussion will focus on analyzing applications using Microsoft technologies, but the techniques are applicable to all developers responsible for building, debugging, and maintaining distributed web application.
