CMP Technology today released the results of the Interop Las Vegas 2007 pre-show survey, revealing security- related products to have the highest level of interest among attendees at North America's largest and most comprehensive business technology event, which will conclude May 25 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
The annual Interop Las Vegas survey also addressed attitudes toward Web 2.0 technologies, with only 30% of those surveyed currently believing that Web 2.0 tools will have a significant impact on IT. In addition, when asked about the source behind the adoption of collaboration tools, 38% of participants identified IT management as the primary driver within their companies, followed by individual users at 22%, departmental managers (15%), IT executives/CIOs (13%) and corporate executives/CEOs (10%). The study further revealed that almost half (47%) of the survey participants have integrated or plan to integrate VoIP together with an 802.11 wireless network, along with 70% for VoIP-only implementation.
"Connectivity today is a given. Communication is a given. Therefore, the focus of Interop has moved from connecting devices to the network to helping individuals communicate and share information over the network with the goal of driving business value," said Lenny Heymann, Interop General Manager. "The results of today's study clearly support this. The business technology industry is at the beginning of a new cycle of innovation, excitement and opportunity grounded in network computing -- which is what Interop has been building for the last two decades."
This year's Interop event will feature increased coverage of green IT, security, muni wireless and enterprise 2.0 technologies while maintaining the same program features that have made the event successful for more than two decades. Through in-depth educational programs, workshops, and real-world demonstrations and live technology implementations in its unique InteropNet and InteropLabs programs, Interop provides the forum for the most powerful innovations and solutions the industry has to offer.
