SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- 4G World, the only conference and expo covering the entire ecosystem of next-generation 4G mobile broadband technologies, services, and devices, today announced that its 2012 event exceeded expectations, with strong attendance on Day 1 and Day 2 and for the leadership conference program, despite Hurricane Sandy impacting attendee and speaker travel plans.

Of particular note was the impressive attendance from mobile operators, with 20% of conference attendees at 4G World 2012 being from the operator community. The jam-packed conference lineup featured more than 165 program speakers participating in 27 keynotes, 15 conference tracks and 45 panels.

4G World was also the launch pad for many new product, service and corporate announcements. This year's event featured more than 100 exhibitors and sponsors that selected 4G World as their choice venue to debut or showcase their 4G solutions.

"With up to 30% of our registered attendees coming from areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy, our first priority was everyone's safety," explained Joe Braue, General Manager of 4G World. "Where keynote speakers could not travel due to weather conditions and flight cancellations, we were able to deliver their presentations via video and audio conference links to attendees on-site in Chicago. And those who could not attend sessions in person were able to view them online from their remote locations through special 4G World video coverage available on Light Reading (www.lightreading.com), the world's leading telecom website."

Among the highlights of the conference were remote video keynotes from FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai from his home outside Washington, DC; and another from T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray who announced a number of initiatives involving T-Mobile's planned purchase of MetroPCS. Other notable sessions included the 4G Device Innovation Keynote Panel with Fared Adib, who manages devices at Sprint, and Kevin Packingham, the Chief Product Officer at Samsung; as well as the IT Executive Forum with the CIO of Chicago Brett Goldstein, along with Garry Curtis, Chief Technology Strategy Officer at Accenture, and others.

This year's 4G World was held in Chicago from October 29 to November 1. The event will move to Dallas in the fall of 2013, and will take place at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center from October 28 – 30, 2013. The Dallas area has become a telecom and mobile communications hub and is home to many operators and service providers, as well as many leading enterprises and application developers.

4G World will also be expanding to India with the launch of 4G World India, which will take place in Delhi on April 25 and 26, 2013. 4G World focuses on key technologies and global operator business strategies for 4G network deployment. By expanding the show to India, 4G World will provide the entire ecosystem in this market with an annual platform to discuss and debate the most important topics facing the industry, and analyze the latest 4G innovations and solutions.
