All Analytics Hosts First Set of Live, Interactive Facebook Video Chats on Data Visualization With Expert Guest Speakers

May 28, 2013

NEW YORK, May 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. ET, and Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. ET, All Analytics editors will host two live, interactive Facebook video chats on how to create effective data visualizations. Jonathan Schwabish, US economist and data visualization creator, will be the special guest for the first video chat, with business intelligence experts Tricia Aanderud, president of And Data, and Ben Zenick, a partner at Zencos, on tap for the second program.

Turning your data into visualizations can pave the way to clearer, quicker insight and understanding. From this flows smarter decision making ‒ any organization's goal. But this comes with a caveat that the data visualizations don't confuse or mislead. In the May 29 Facebook video chat, "Data Visualization Dos & Don'ts," Schwabish, who regularly hosts policy visualization workshops and knows all the ins and outs of creating effective data visualizations, will share his three fundamental principles for data visualization and provide examples and redesign tips on how to show the data, reduce chart junk, and integrate text.

During the June 5 Facebook video chat, "How to Create Great Data Visualizations," Aanderud and Zenick will share their tips and best-practices advice for creating great data visualizations. Attendees will learn how to get the most from their data; meet the requirements of different user personas; present visualizations without information overload; and translate requirements into consumable visualization.

"Data visualization is quickly becoming a critical component of leading analytics strategies, with the goal being quicker time to market and better insight. However, the risk is in creating data visualizations that don't work ‒ maybe they're too cluttered, too confusing, or otherwise too much trouble to absorb. Hear what these experts have to say about heading off such potential disasters during our Facebook video chats, and save your data visualizations from such a fate," said Beth Schultz, editor in chief, AllAnalytics.com.

These will be the first live Facebook video chats hosted by All Analytics, the award-winning community created for the advancement of the analytics discipline. Participation for attendees is free; attendees also have the opportunity to ask questions of the guest speakers in real-time via Facebook's text comment stream.
