CPhI Pharma Evolution Hosts Live Video Chat on How to Solve Pharma's Quality Crisis, Featuring Former Leaders of the FDA's Process Analytical Technologies Team

Jul 11, 2013

NEW YORK, July 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, July 17, at 11:00 a.m. ET, CPhI Pharma Evolution's Editor-in-Chief, Agnes Shanley, will be hosting a live video chat with Ajaz Hussain, Ali Afnan, and Chris Watts, former leaders of the FDA's Process Analytical Technologies (PAT)Team.

The video chat, titled "Solving Pharma's Quality Crisis – Straight Talk With Afnan, Hussain & Watts," will discuss pharma's current quality control problems, how science-based approaches to quality work, why they're better than traditional ways, and how professionals in the industry can use them.

"Our three speakers brought a whole new way of thinking to the pharmaceutical industry when the PAT guidance and the concept of pharmaceutical Quality by Design (QbD) were introduced," Shanley says.  "Even though these frameworks are not legally required, key elements are being incorporated into generic drug review and plant inspections. Pharmaceutical manufacturers, name-brand and generic alike, can't afford to ignore them ‒ and who better to discuss their potential impact than those who first brought the concepts to the industry?" The best part of the program is the fact that attendees will be able to address any questions they have directly to the speakers during the program.

This is the second live video chat hosted by CPhI Pharma Evolution, a CPhI community created to provide a safe environment where pharma professionals can exchange thoughts and network with each other. Participation is free, and attendees also have the opportunity to post questions for the guests in real time via the site's live chat feature.
