CMP Media's EE Times announced the launch of the EDA DesignLine Web site ( www.EDADesignLine.com ). This completely new site is targeted at electronic design engineers and engineering managers involved in using EDA tools and techniques during the development of chips, boards, systems and software in electronics designs.

"The EDA industry provides the indispensable tools the electronic industry needs to architect, develop, and manufacture its products, from Printed Circuit Boards to Integrated Circuits. The site provides in depth articles discussing engineering problems and solutions, as well as news and product announcements that help engineering professionals stay abreast of the progress in EDA technology. Forums offer a way to interact and exchange ideas and opinions, while the blog and the newsletter analyze the state of the EDA industry," said Gabe Moretti, Site Editor for EDA DesignLine.

EDA DesignLine is EE Times' 13th in a series of vertically micro-segmented Web sites for engineers involved in designing electronics systems. The site provides the technical, how-to information the engineering community needs to accelerate and advance the design and development of EDA tools. Topics covered on the site ranges from chip design to circuit board design to verification technologies. Key coverage areas include:

  -- Analog/Mixed-Signal Design
  -- Board-Level Design
-- Electronics System Level (ESL) Design
  -- Digital IC Design
  -- Verification

Site Editor Gabe Moretti has over 30 years of experience developing EDA tools spanning the range from design capture to chip layout. Gabe has also worked on the development of numerous industry standards including EDIF, VME, VHDL and Verilog. From 2000, Gabe has been covering the EDA community as a writer and editor first with EDN magazine, with the blog site www.gabeoneda.com and now EDA DesignLine. He also held the position of contributing editor at EDNonEDA, a bi-weekly electronic newsletter covering the EDA market and also authored the yearly EDA forecast (2002-2004) for the Electronics Yearbook. Gabe is a graduate of Whittier College with a degree in Business. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
