TechInsights' ESC Silicon Valley Kicks Off Its 20th Year With Industry Keynotes, In-Depth Tutorials and Live Demonstrations

Thousands of attendees gather at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose to see the latest embedded technologies and experience live product teardowns

TechInsights ( today kicked off the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley (, bringing together attendees and exhibitors to learn, collaborate and innovate at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose. The conference will take place today through Friday, with 10,000 attendees and 350 exhibitors.

During the next four days, conference attendees will be able to attend more than 250 tutorial sessions, from 90-minute instruction sessions to day- long in-depth lessons. Included in these sessions is the opportunity for attendees to participate in a new Build Your Own Embedded System Track ( with the ARTiGO embedded development kit.

This week attendees will participate in educational and entertaining events including:

  -- "20 Years of Embedded Systems,"
     ( ESC
     Silicon Valley will feature a multimedia Keynote Address, presented by
     industry veteran Jack Ganssle.
  -- Industry Addresses (
     presented by Microsoft and Sun Microsystems discussing the unlimited
     present and future opportunities for the embedded industry.
  -- Exciting live product teardowns
     ( including:
     -- Gibson Robot Guitar: Attendees will get to see how this guitar is
        able to automatically tune to a range of standard and alternative
        tunings at the touch of a button.
     -- SuitSat: Attendees will have the chance to view the electronics that
        were used in an out-of-service space suit from the International
        Space Station.
     -- Sony OLED TV: Attendees can explore the embedded systems that went
        into breaking new ground in technology, panel thinness and contrast
     -- Sony Rolly: Attendees can see how this hot new gadget -- that's not
        even available in the U.S. yet -- plays MP3 files and dances to the
        music, incorporating Bluetooth and 2 Gbytes flash memory.

  -- Rock the '80's Party to celebrate the 20th year of the Embedded Systems
  -- Smart Car Give Away: All the rage in Europe, ESC Silicon Valley will be
     giving away a smartfourtwo passion coupe (approximate value $15,000) to
     one registered attendee.

On April 15, the show will gain even more momentum as the exhibit floor opens featuring more than 300 companies including AMD, Cisco Systems, Intel, Mentor Graphics, Microsoft, National Instruments, Texas Instruments and Sun Microsystems.
