CMP Media, the premier technology and business media brand serving the information needs of the creators of technology, today announced that it will host a new program and zone titled Great Minds, Great Ideas presented by EE Times at the International CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the world's largest annual consumer electronics tradeshow.

At the 2006 event running January 5-8 in Las Vegas, EE Times will host the Great Minds, Great Ideas Zone -- a 7,000-sq.-ft. area to feature an exhibition of leading electronics companies as well as live panels highlighting the people and breakthrough innovations that will drive the consumer electronics products of the future.

"Consumer electronics products are a huge part of our global economy," said Paul Miller, CMP Media Electronics Group vice president and group publisher, "and the technology innovations that make them possible are often covered in EE Times years before the final products are introduced. Together with CES, the world's greatest consumer electronics event, EE Times will provide a unique glimpse into the technology innovations happening now that will shape consumer electronics into the future."

"CMP Media's participation in this year's show is a cornerstone of our attendee recruitment efforts," commented Karen Chupka, CEA vice president of events and conferences. "EE Times will bring deeper technical insight and a more expansive glimpse into the future than CES has ever offered in the past."

The presence at the International CES is part of EE Times Great Minds, Great Ideas Project, an integrated marketing program available to select advertisers and sponsors that offers a combined presence across print, online and event properties. The program also includes a December 5, 2005, EE Times special collector's publication and a Web site (www.eetimes.com/disruption) dedicated to profiling the "Creators of Technology."

The event at the International CES comes at a time when CMP Media's Electronics Group is focused on raising public awareness about the contributions of the electronic engineering community that the group refers to as the "Creators of Technology." Every day, electronic engineers change the way we work, live and play through astounding technological advancements, many of which have been covered in EE Times several years before they hit the market in the hottest consumer products.

Examples of EE Times' over-the-horizon tech-trend spotting have included: digital image compression, or MPEG, the enabling consumer electronics technology at the core of all digital video and high definition broadcast and display applications today; the "cell processor" silicon architecture, the compute and graphics engine at the heart of today's leading-edge video game consoles; and a long list of critical electronic device breakthroughs and technology enablers that have changed the face of consumer, computing, communications products, including Direct Dynamic RAM (DDR) memory, nanotechnology, software-defined radio, system-on-chip implementation of wireless standards such as WiFi, WiMax and Zigbee.

More details of CMP Media's "Creators of Technology" campaign will be introduced in September 2005.
