EE Times Launches Programmable Logic DesignLine Web Site for Engineers Designing Programmable Logic Technology and Equipment

Jun 27, 2005

CMP Media's EE Times announced today the launch of the Programmable Logic DesignLine Web site ( This completely new site is targeted at design engineers and engineering managers involved in the development, implementation and programming of PLDs and FPGAs for wireless, networking, industrial, automotive and other system designs.

"Programmable Logic DesignLine exists to provide an interactive resource for design engineers and managers. It is intended to be a place to stay current on trends and developments-a clearing for the exchange of information, and a place to voice opinions and suggestions," said Carolyn Mathas, site editor for Programmable Logic DesignLine. "I'm proud to be here at the beginning of this site, to develop and take it in direction that its audience wants it to go."

Programmable Logic DesignLine is the online design resource that delivers practical, how-to design information, technical and standards-related resources, new product announcements and reviews, expert advice and topical forums on:

   *    FPGA/CPLD Architecture/Implementation
   *    Interconnect Design
   *    Embedded Processing/DSP
   *    FPGA-to-ASIC conversion
   *    Design Flows/Software

The site is dedicated to helping engineers accelerate the development of programmable logic technology and equipment by delivering a broad array of resources, from technical insights into structured ASIC approaches to articles on new industry standards and their potential repercussions.

Site Editor Carolyn Mathas comes to the Programmable Logic Design Line after serving as a West Coast correspondent for CleanRooms Magazine, and a senior editor of Lightwave Magazine, a business-to-business publication covering fiber optic communications. Carolyn provided ghost writing services for such companies as Lucent Microelectronics and National Semiconductor, as well as public relations and marketing expertise to several clients including Philips Semiconductor, Mysticom Semiconductor, and Altera's Santa Cruz Division. She also provided the promotion for the memorable introduction of the CoolRunner family of products for the Philips CPLD Business Unit. Her ghostwritten articles, spanning a myriad of technologies, are published in Photonics, Portable Design, Wireless Systems Design, Photonics Spectra, Laser Focus World, Automotive Engineering, and EE Times. Carolyn was director of marketing at fabless security IC startup Securealink. Before entering the world of technology, she was a registered representative with Merrill Lynch, EFHutton, and Dean Witter.

Programmable Logic DesignLine is CMP Media's eighth in a series of vertically micro-segmented Web sites for design engineers involved in designing electronic systems. CMP's Electronics Group has a high degree of experience in the programmable logic design area through the editorial resources of EE Times, Embedded Systems Programming, EE Times Online, and
