CMP Media (NASDAQ: UNEWY) today announced that the 3rd annual Communications Design Conference in San Jose drew 1900 total attendees including design engineers, exhibitors, and media, of which included 1,400 qualified design engineers.

To help boost design innovation and advance education in the industry, the Communications Design Conference joined forces with EE Times and Communication Systems Design to offer free technical training to qualified engineers. By bringing together more consumers of communications design tools and exhibiting vendors, CMP Media reinforced its commitment to the communications market and to providing quality events where business can be accomplished.

"This great response from highly qualified design engineers demonstrates the strong commitment to industry innovation and continued education in one of the most challenging communications markets in recent history," said Rob Keenan, conference co-chair. "This innovation spark is just what the communications industry needs to help turn the corner and begin to grow in key areas like wireless, home networking, and enterprise networking sectors."

In addition to a world-class technical program, the event also featured exhibits from IBM, Intel, Motorola, STMicroelectronics, Tensilica, Rambus, LynuxWorks, NEC, Vishay InterTechnology, and other hardware, software, and services companies that provided previews into the latest design technologies for communication systems.

The 2003 Communications Design Conference program presentations, including the keynote Eric Mentzer, Vice President and CTO of the Communications Group at Intel Corporation, are available at http://www.commdesignconference.com/classnotes/cdc03/index.htm, and complete conference proceedings can be downloaded at http://www.commdesignconference.com/cdc03proceedings.
