According to the Associacao Brasileira da industria eletrica e eletronica), eletroeletronic industry sales grew 17 percent in the first quarter of 2010 compared with the same period last year and increased 3 percent of 2008 first quarter sales.

"The launch of ESC Brazil broadens our presence in the South American electronic design and semiconductor industry and enhances our existing portfolio of events for the electronics industry," said David Blaza, Vice President, Events of EE Times Group. "We are very pleased to bring the leading embedded systems event to a new and expanding market to deliver designers, technologists, business leaders and suppliers with a robust environment to learn, design and network."

The addition of ESC Brazil strengthens EE Times Group's position as the premier media and events resource in the global electronics industry. EE Times Group's Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) is the global electronics industry's leading event and has been in existence for 22 years. ESC offers events in five global locations, including Boston, Chicago, India (Bangalore), San Jose (Silicon Valley) and the United Kingdom (London).

Additionally, earlier this year, EE Times Group announced that it is partnering with the technology group of Reed Business Information to launch the Embedded Live Exhibition and Conference, which is scheduled to take place October 20-21, 2010 at the Earls Court in London. EE Times Group will also serve as the strategic event partner for the 2010 ARM Technology Conference. The event will take place November 9-11, 2010 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA. In addition, EE Times Group acquired DesignCon, the definitive exhibition and conference for electronic design experts spanning chip, package, board, and system domains, addressing common issues in signal integrity, power management, interconnection and design verification. DesignCon is scheduled for January 31-February 3, 2011 in Silicon Valley.

EE Times Group and UBM Brazil are also working closely with Ipesi, Portal Embarcados as well as its association partner, Abraci.

The launch of ESC Brazil continues to increase UBM's South American portfolio. In June 2010, UBM acquired the remaining equity in PR Newswire Brazil and PR Newswire Argentina from the respective private joint venture partners and also signed an agreement to acquire a 60 percent interest in Navalshore, a Brazilian shipbuilding industry tradeshow and conference, from its private owners.
