NEW YORK, Dec 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The battle for supremacy in the emerging 4G LTE network infrastructure market is set to intensify in 2014 as new license awards in countries such as China and further network expansion in North America and Europe fuel mobile broadband expansion, reports Light Reading, the market-leading online community for the global communications sector.

While a number of high-profile network infrastructure suppliers are competing for market share, the market leadership position is currently being contested by two of the sector's major vendors, Huawei Technologies and Ericsson.

As 2013 comes to an end, Huawei has outlined its anticipated growth for the coming year. While its total wireless networks business is expected to grow by about 10% year-on-year to US$12.9 billion, the Chinese company expects revenues from its 4G LTE business to double to about $4 billion. That growth will be fuelled in part by network investments in its domestic market, where some 4G licenses have recently been issued.
