About the International Engineering Consortium
In 1944, the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) was founded as a nonprofit organization sponsored by universities and engineering societies, dedicated to continuing education for the U.S. electronics industry.

The Consortium established its reputation as a catalyst for industry-academic collaboration through the National Electronics Conference, a program launched in 1945 that continued through the 1960s and into the early '70s, addressing the needs of the broad-based electronics industry.  The dramatic development of information and communications technologies (ICT) during the last decades of the 20th Century and the first decade of the 21st were supported by IEC programs in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.  Most recently, the Consortium has produced programs for the electric utility industry supporting grid modernization and smart grid deployment.
