CMP Media's SD Events Group today announced the speaker lineup for its upcoming Software Development Conference and Expo (SD West 2003) at the Santa Clara Convention Center, March 24 - 28. SD West faculty is made up of top software development experts including well-known authors, professors, business leaders and visionaries from all corners of the development world. This year's keynote lineup includes:

  -- Bruce Perens, Open Source Evangelist, a well-known spokesperson and one
     of the leaders of Free Software and Linux, who will discuss
     individualism versus the company line. This promises to be an exciting
     address after Mr. Perens' recent tenure at Hewlett-Packard Corporation.
     Mr. Perens is presenting the featured keynote, March 27th at 12:15pm.
  -- Gary McGraw, CTO of Cigital, Inc., will discuss building secure
     software. The major focus of this talk will be on identifying and
     managing software security risk, a very important issue today. Mr.
     McGraw is presenting the opening keynote, March 24th at 12:15pm.
  -- Greg Kiczales & Charles Simonyi, Vice President and President of
     Intentional Software Corp., will present "Making the Code Look Like the
     Design" an outline of the next step in the evolution of making code for
     a wider variety of systems to look more like their design. Mr. Kiczales
     & Mr. Simonyi will be presenting March 26th at 5pm.
  -- Ted Farrell, Architect and Director of Strategy at Oracle Corp., will
     address improving developer productivity with J2EE Frameworks. Mr.
     Farrell will examine the roadblocks to productivity that frameworks can
     address and the pros and cons of various framework approaches.  Mr.
     Farrell is presenting his technical keynote March 25th at 6:30pm.
