CMP Media today announced that Software Development magazine will host a net seminar with Compuware Corporation. The net seminar, "Model-driven, Pattern-based Development Explained" will be held June 4, 2003 at 11am PDT.

"We are very excited about partnering with Compuware to host our first Net Seminar," Stan Barnes, Associate Publisher of Software Development magazine commented. "This seminar will help development managers and teams as they strive to implement best practices into their projects."

Software Development magazine's Editor in Chief, Alexandra Weber-Morales, will moderate the session.

The seminar presenters -

John Crupi is a Distinguished Engineer and the Chief Java Architect for Sun Software Services. Mr. Crupi is co-author of Core J2EE Patterns and has over 17 years of experience in software design and development and distributed object computing.

Michael Sawicki is a Product Manager for Compuware Corporation. Mr. Sawicki has been involved in application development for 25 years and with Compuware for five years. He speaks regularly to manufacturing, service and educational audiences regarding model-driven, pattern-based application development, with a special emphasis on enforcement of standards and best practices and their effect on organizational measurements of efficiency.

The net seminar will examine an automated approach for translating business models into the application code necessary to implement business solutions based upon best J2EE design and coding practices. Development projects frequently proceed from requirements definition directly to coding tasks. This common practice ignores architecture standards that continue to evolve and best coding practices that domain and technology experts work to continuously improve. A model-driven pattern-based approach to development easily implements those best practices and automates the transformation of business requirements to a specific architecture and then from architecture to code implementations without error.
