CMP Media's Software Development Magazine Named Best Computers/Software, Training & Program Development Magazine by Western Publications Association
Apr 21, 2003
CMP Media today announced that Software Development magazine was named Best Computers/Software, Training & Program Development Publication by the Western Publications Association in its 2003 Maggie Award competition. The annual Maggie Awards recognize excellence in magazine and electronic publishing in the Western United States.
The WPA received 1,700 entries this year for its Maggie Awards. Software Development magazine was judged on its overall editorial and creative quality.
"Software Development magazine is honored to win the Maggie Award for best publication in the computer/software category," said SD magazine's Publisher, Marco Pardi. "It is a true testament to the value the SD team puts into producing quality editorial for the software development community."
Alexandra Weber Morales, Editor in Chief, also commented, "The September 2003 issue that won the Maggie in the overall Computers/Software category was a prime example of Software Development's trademark mix of strategic technology coverage and people management issues. Its cover story, 'Capsized? 50 Tips for Charting a New Career Course' put a new spin on the traditional resume-writing advice genre by consulting with a high-tech headhunter, a librarian, a counselor, a software methodologist, a futurist and a noted author. In the same issue, a special guide to Web services focused on the overlooked area of secure SOAP messaging for e-commerce. We take this as welcome support of the path Software Development has followed for 18 years -- the path of individuality, irreverence and investigation."
The Maggie Awards, the Western Publications Associations most prestigious publishing event, honors editorial, design and promotion excellence in magazine, tabloid, newsletter and online publishing. Publishing professionals gathered in Los Angeles to honor their peers at this year's 52nd annual awards ceremony held April 11.
