Mar 15, 2004
CMP Media's Optimize Magazine, delivering business strategy and execution for CIOs, announced that Ralph Szygenda, Group VP and CIO, General Motors, will be contributing a bimonthly column entitled Closing Arguments to the publication. Optimize is a monthly magazine that reaches 70,000 CIOs, CTOs, VPs of IS and technology-involved CXOs. In his column, Szygenda will bring unique insight to the role of Business Technology Executives by sharing his vision on topics such as business leadership, managing the virtual corporation, global relationships and offshoring, recruiting, operations, and technology investments.
"Optimize's features are written by CXO subject matter experts -- a Who's Who of thought-leaders in business," said Brian Gillooly, Editor-in-Chief, Optimize. "The addition of GM's Ralph Szygenda to Optimize's roster continues to reinforce the importance of the peer-to-peer editorial environment at the C-level."
Szygenda, one of the top executives of the largest corporations in the world, will share his 32 years of wisdom as an executive of Fortune 1000 companies such as General Motors, Texas Instruments, and Bell Atlantic. Each column will delve into the role of the CIO within the overall executive management relationship and help readers understand the CIO as more of a business executive. The name of his column, Closing Arguments, reflects its position as the back page of the magazine and alternates each month with columns from other prominent subject matter experts in the Business Technology arena such as business guru Michael Hammer and Mainstay Partners analyst Amir Hartman.
Szygenda's first column will debut in the April issue of Optimize and tackles the evolving role of today's CIO at a time where the speed of business continues to accelerate. Szygenda's inaugural column will also appear in an upcoming issue of its sister publication, InformationWeek, which serves 440,000 Business Technology professionals.
