CMP Media's TechWeb Network today announced the first annual Best Independent Tech Blog Readers Choice Awards.

TechWeb Network visitors, composed mainly of technology professionals at large, medium, and small organizations, will be asked to nominate their favorite independent tech blogs. Ten finalists will receive six months of promotion on TechWeb Network Sites and will face a run-off in November. The winning blog, to be selected in mid-November, will also receive a $500 Starbucks Coffee Card.

"Blogs are an amazing source for independent ideas and concepts," said Mike Azzara, Vice President/Group Director, Internet Business, CMP Media's TechWeb Network. "By shining a light on this growing channel of communication, we hope to expose ourselves and our visitors to new views on how technology is impacting the business world."

To qualify, nominated blogs must primarily cover technology and be published independently of any major technology publishing company.
