Fidelity Capital Markets has launched a new 100-seat trading floor in midtown Manhattan, and Advanced Trading has created an interactive photo gallery (http://advancedtrading.com/photos/trading-floors/Fidelity) showing the new floor, its layout, and the technology being used by traders.

The floor will trade both equities and fixed income products and will be home to the firm's growing prime brokerage business. Previously Fidelity had these groups located in various locations in Manhattan and Jersey City. The firm built the new floor to unify the groups and expand its operations.

"The firm is certainly bucking the downsizing trend," says Kerry Massaro, editor in chief, Advanced Trading. "It has ramped up staff in equities, fixed income and prime services, and it's even building out a transition business. The state-of-the-art trading floor complements Fidelity 's 450-seat floor in Boston, and allows its sales traders to be closer to their New York customers."

Leading the charge are Mark Haggerty, president, Fidelity Capital Markets, and Mike Cashel, SVP, equities, who was hired in September to oversee the equities operations. Cashel, who gave Advanced Trading the tour of the floor, said he hopes to leverage synergies by bringing the groups together.
