TechWeb's Light Reading (www.lightreading.com), the leading research-led media company serving the global communications marketplace, and Heavy Reading (www.heavyreading.com), its prestigious market research division, will be hosting their first Packet Backhaul virtual event on February 4. Packet Backhaul 2010, hosted by Heavy Reading Senior Analysts Patrick Donegan and Gabriel Brown is the first-ever global virtual tradeshow dedicated to the mobile backhaul space. Packet Backhaul 2010 will dissect the ongoing challenges that mobile operators continue to face in scaling up their initial packet backhaul deployments, and examine the tools and solutions they are adopting to accelerate the rate of deployment.

Packet Backhaul 2010 will feature service provider industry experts Yiannis Argyropoulos, Principal Member of Technical Staff from AT&T, and Terje Jensen, Research Manager for Telenor, who will speak on the rate of transition to packet backhaul in their markets, as well as briefly describe their own companies' rates of transition to date, explaining the progress made as well as the architectures and technologies used. Additionally, Platinum Sponsor Aviat Networks, formerly Harris Stratex Networks SVP, and Chief Marketing Officer Shaun McFall will be keynoting on the mobile broadband explosion and how next-generation wireless backhaul technologies can transform mobile networks and turn the mobile broadband explosion into a transformative opportunity for revenue growth.

"Many leading operators have made their fundamental architectural and technology choices for evolving their backhaul networks from TDM to IP/Ethernet. What they're wrestling with now are the operational aspects of scaling the deployments up cost effectively," says Patrick Donegan, Senior Analyst at Heavy Reading.

Other panelists from sponsoring companies will also be present. Sponsors include Aviat Networks, as Platinum sponsor; Fujitsu, as Gold sponsor; and Bronze sponsors Ceragon, Cyan, EXFO, Symmetricom, and Transmode.

Packet Backhaul registration has already exceeded its goal of 1,000. Expected attendance is between 500 and 600 attendees. Registration is free. To register for Packet Backhaul 2010 please visit: www.lightreading.com/virtualbackhaul.
