CMP Media's TechWeb Network announced today the June launch of StoragePipeline.com, the first in a series of web sites covering specific technology topics. As the Pipeline name suggests, the site and its newsletter will be forward-looking, to deliver both insight into existing storage technologies as well as to examine what's coming down the road.

The StoragePipeline.com newsletter launched today, in print, in conjunction with the StorageWorld Conference this week in Anaheim, California. Later this week the newsletter will commence electronic distribution, and will continue weekly thereafter. A limited version of the StoragePipeline site will be online in support of the conference newsletter until early June, when the full site will debut.

Storage Pipeline will provide users with quick and easy access to information that keeps them on top of fast-changing storage technology, as well as comprehensive product information.

To do this, the site will feature carefully selected articles culled from many sources. In addition to content created specifically for Storage Pipeline, the site will include articles written by CMP Media 's award-winning magazine editors and links to contextually important content, no matter where it appears on the Web.

"It's the three 'Cs' -- comprehensive contextual content -- that set StoragePipeline apart from other sites," says Mike Azzara, Director, Content Development for the TechWeb Network. "Typical media sites provide news and reviews, and their own 'expert advice'. We're adding comprehensive product information in a tabular interface that will become the one place for IT managers to come for access to all the important information about the product or technology they're interested in, no matter where on the Web the information actually resides. And we're doing it at an unprecedented level of granularity."

The site will feature comprehensive product directories that organize and filter Web-based content relevant to storage into two dozen discrete product segments, each with its own directory. CMP editorial experts will shape the content and the directory. Martin Garvey (InformationWeek) and Steven Schuchart (Network Computing) helped develop the structure for the Storage Pipeline directory. In fact, the editorial strategy behind the coming series of "Pipeline" sites is to strongly leverage the subject-matter expertise of CMP's powerful print brands, most notably InformationWeek and Network Computing, both in terms of editorial direction and contributions.

Other sites planned for the series - including Security and Mobile/Wireless -- will follow the same editorial model and strategy.

Technology professionals interested in storage can subscribe to the Storage Pipeline newsletter at the Storage Pipeline site (www.StoragePipeline.com). Everyone who subscribes to the newsletter before June 30 will be entered into a random drawing for a top-of-the line TiVo personal video recorder.
