TechWeb's Light Reading today announced that with strong keynotes from AT&T, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc., and presentations form key Tier 2 and 3 service providers, last week's 8th Annual TelcoTV09 Conference and Expo held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida experienced a surge of attendees and industry attention. With a 30% increase in qualified non-exhibitor attendees, and overall attendance above 2,300, this demonstrates why TelcoTV is by far the global leading video show for carriers.

Preliminary sales for next year's TelcoTV event, which will be held November 9-11, 2010, at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, have far exceeded expectations. The top tier of sponsorships are already sold out, and several key vendors have increased their footprint for 2010. Those supporting 2010 include, Occam Networks, Nokia Siemens Networks, Calix, EchoStar, Adtran, Hitachi Communication Technologies America, TandbergTV, and Advanced Digital Broadcast.

"In a year where unfocused horizontal conferences in the communications industry experienced significant declines in attendance and sponsorship, TelcoTV actually grew its targeted audience," said Joe Braue, SVP and Group Director of Light Reading, which produces the show in collaboration with the NTCA. "With targeted attendance (service providers, media and analysts) at TelcoTV and our Ethernet Expo New York show (held Nov. 3 and 4 in New York City) growing in 2009, we're once again proving that focused shows that drive industry leadership attract the key buyers and the exhibitors that want to sell and partner with them."

TelcoTV featured keynote addresses from Trevor Bonnstetter, CEO of West Kentucky Rural Telephone; Mary Campanola, Outreach Coordinator, Telecommunications Program of the Rural Utilities Service; Joe Savage, President of the Fiber to the Home Council, North America; Mitch Singer, CTO, Executive VP of New Media and Technology of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc., and Jeffrey Weber, VP Video Products at AT&T.

Terry Pulley of CATV, an attendee, commented on the content strategies session, saying, "Very, very informative, forward thinking. New Ideas!"

Colin Ashcroft, Corporate Communications Manager of Amino Communications, an exhibitor at TelcoTV, said, "It's a great focused show with a high quality of attendees."

TelcoTV 2009's key sponsors included Nokia Siemens Networks, Occam Networks, Calix, ZTE, Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, and Conklin-Intracom. Also notable was the industry's leading standards bodies participating in the TelcoTV Standards Pavilion, providing clarification on standards and their implication on the future of broadcast TV and entertainment being delivered over the internet.

"TelcoTV represents not only the large incumbent telcos but also the small rural providers. It's important that all have a forum to exchange best practices and insights. TelcoTV provides such a platform to keep our industry competitive, strong, and viable," explains Kevin McGuire, Vice President, Business and Technology, National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA). TelcoTV is a joint production of Light Reading and NTCA.
