TelcoTV Asia 2009 (www.telcotvasia.com; www.telcotvasia.cn), scheduled for October 13-14 in Shanghai, will be jointly hosted by Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film & Television (SCRFT) and Shanghai Economy & Information Technology Commission (SHEITC) at the Hyatt on the Bund Shanghai Hotel. The conference and exhibition, which will be part of a government-run information week held during the same time, has already confirmed more than 25 speakers from leading operators around the world.
Officials from SCRFT and SHEITC will speak at the TelcoTV Asia, presenting their blueprint for the development of China's multimedia and information technology industry and related policies.
The Chinese central government recently announced a new policy encouraging the joint entrance of both the broadcasting and telecommunications industries into mobile, IPTV, and other video opportunities. Leading operators will be attending TelcoTV Asia, looking for new technologies to help achieve this ambitious plan and searching for appropriate business models as well.
"TelcoTV Asia will be a great networking opportunity for telecom carriers, cable TV companies, broadcasting companies, and the technology companies that serve them," says Arron Xu, Associate Director of Light Reading China.
