O'Reilly Media and CMP Technology Launch Web 2.0 Expo Tokyo
Internet Event Pioneers Launch First Tradeshow and Conference to Address Web 2.0 Community in Japan
Feb 14, 2007
O'Reilly Media, Inc. and CMP Technology, co-producers of the annual Web 2.0 Summit and newly created Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, today jointly announced the launch of a new conference and tradeshow that will bring together top leaders and technologists who are building, leveraging and driving the Japanese web economy. Web 2.0 Expo Tokyo, scheduled for November 15-16, 2007, will be held at Izumi Garden Tower in Roppongi, Tokyo.
Web 2.0 Expo is designed to be the major annual Japanese gathering of the technical, design, marketing, and business professionals who are building the next generation web. The event will have three major components: an educational conference, including both traditional seminar formats and elements of peer-to-peer learning; a major tradeshow featuring the sellers of tools, technologies, services, and infrastructure; and networking events targeted at internet entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and business development executives. Key industry visionaries including Tim O'Reilly, Joichi Ito, and John Battelle are on the advisory board of this event. Additional information on Web 2.0 Expo Tokyo content, registration information, and promotional opportunities is available at www.cmptech.jp/web2expo/eng .
"Web 2.0 is a global phenomenon. Network effects don't have national boundaries. But the collective intelligence harvested by the most interesting and innovative Web 2.0 applications often has a local flavor," said Tim O'Reilly, founder and CEO of O'Reilly Media. "We're excited to bring together the rapidly growing Web 2.0 business and developer communities in Japan for this new conference."
Web 2.0 Expo Tokyo joins the annual Web 2.0 Summit and Web 2.0 Expo San Francisco, which bring together the most innovative and successful internet industry figures and companies. These industry pioneers will provide attendees with examples of business models, development paradigms, and design strategies to enable mainstream businesses and new arrivals to the Web 2.0 world to take advantage of this new generation of services and opportunities.
"Web 2.0 Expo Tokyo will help Japanese business from all industry sectors put the principles of Web 2.0 to work for them," said Hiroyuki Sugano, President, CMP Technology Japan. "We look forward to leveraging the successes of the Web 2.0 Summit and Web 2.0 Expo San Francisco to build the event that will define the Japanese web economy and address the industry's needs."
